As a Technical Artist in the Master Asset Team (MAT), I helped prepare the master assets that were sent throughout Rotor’s pipeline. Assets I produced were used as photo realistic CGI for Rotor’s range of automotive clients, including Toyota and Lexus.
My day to day role included:
– Optimising vehicle CAD for our pipeline utilising Maya for tasks including decimating, retopologising, and UV mapping.
– Hand modelling items and accessories to photo-realistic scale and proportion including vehicle spoilers, interior floor mats and welds.
– Fitting rig guides to our vehicle models, and then testing the constraints and controls of the rig for correct animation.
– Notifying producers of issues early on and responding to tickets from our digital and post departments in a timely manner.
– Revising and refining details to faithfully reflect references while also meeting production deadlines.
– Utilising a range of custom in house tools and scripts to efficiently optimise time spent on productions.
